About

The Long Beach Internship Challenge is a collaboration among the City’s leading employers, education institutions and workforce organizations to answer the Mayor’s call-to-action. Mayor Garcia is asking every Long Beach business and civic partner to consider adding an intern to their team.

Meaningful work experience is an important part of every student’s education. Working together, this effort enriches student learning through internships and other career-building opportunities, and helps our City prepare its people to succeed in life.

"Summer interns at Studio One Eleven have an opportunity to engage in a three-part program designed to engage our new talent thoughtfully. The activities are structured around

  • shadowing opportunities

  • 360 training where we learn new technology opportunity from interns while they learn from senior staff

  • a real project rooted heavily in research that give our newest team members a sense of ownership

CA Families in Focus

At CA Families in Focus we offer our interns a hands-on experience to all that goes into planning special events, creating a program, a support group or a workshop. We encourage them to roll up their sleeves and offer them a platform to be recognized for doing great work meeting the needs of our community.

We also understand the importance of mentoring and therefore guide, help, and encourage interns to seek other community resources so they can lay a solid foundation for a successful future. Lastly, we encourage our interns to pay it forward and give to others what was given to them.

This year we found an exceptional intern in Amber Va. Amber is amazing with social media and electronics and was a fast learner! She is a natural leader, organized, energetic, trust worthy, and not afraid to seek help.

Amber's internship was paid through Pacific Gateway. We thank Mayor Robert Garcia for making the call to action, the City of Long Beach and Pacific Gateway for the amazing work and for giving our youth hope and purpose.
